Pre-Christmas pressure or anxiety? This will help..
Do you feel the pre-Christmas pressure mounting? Whether it’s the realisation of all that Christmas shopping still to do or that Christmas will be different this year. These four wellbeing tips from Emily, our founder, will help you get through it.
Use scent to set positive intentions
The festive season is overwhelming, and this year that's supercharged. I turn on my diffuser and add a few drops of Happy Essential Oil Blend – set an intention for your day and come back to it every time you smell the scent. The combination of uplifting smells, mindfulness, and positive intentions makes me ready to face the world.
Stop trying to fit a narrative
Over the Christmas period, there always seems to be an expectation that our lives should be perfect and we should all sit around the perfect Christmas table. Christmas is not a barometer of life success and it's ok not to have the perfect home or a harmonious family. You can make Christmas whatever you want to, but importantly make sure you make time for yourself.
Watch out for the inner critic
And what it's telling you and be compassionate towards yourself. Notice how you are feeling and what you are telling yourself. Step back from the thought and recognise how it’s impacting you. This may be more likely to happen when we are under pressure. Give yourself a break, you are going great!
Practice gratitude
It is a practice I have used for the last two years and it really does make a huge difference to my mindset. You reflect on all the things you are grateful for, whatever that might be. Eating delicious food that nourishes, getting outside in the fresh air, or having a warm house. It really helps when things get tough and transforms your mindset from negative to positive, safe, and abundant.
